With ‘Well Fed & Ferments’ the Well Fed project is back at the Study Melbourne Hub in 2026
Something exciting is brewing over at Well Fed!
We are so stoked to announce the partnership between Just Food and Farm to Ferment where together we bring you a brand new iteration of Well Fed - Well Fed & Ferments. The fun meals, chill vibes and grocery bags you’re used to but with a new twist: come for the meal but hang back for the fermentation workshop after!
*MAKE SURE TO REGISTER FOR BOTH MEAL AND WORKSHOP SEPARATELY
Each week we will introduce you to a different culturally themed menu and corresponding fermentation workshop. For example, on April 10th we want to celebrate Japanese culture with a special three-part lunch menu but also a fermentation practice unique to the region. Don’t miss the hour long workshop hosted by Farm to Ferment and master fermenter Patrick Meaney.
Let’s eat well, learn some cool skills and celebrate each others diversity and uniqueness. As international students adjusting to a new life in a new country we’re sure you can appreciate the idea celebrating different cultures but also the commonalities between us!
Why Well Fed & Ferments?
Times are tough and food insecurity continues to be a very real issue in our student communities. Recent research from University of Tasmania shows levels at 53% within its student population. This is inline with the data we have seen across Australia, and indicates the situation has only worsened post-pandemic. In the City of Melbourne last year, 48% of all residents reported levels of food insecurity!
For a lot of international students the situation is even tougher! Tuition fees are higher and many of the same support systems that exist for domestic students just aren’t there. Plus adjusting to life in a new city and different country is really hard. Hats off to you!
That’s why Well Fed is thrilled to be back at the Study Melbourne Hub this year offering 5 FREE food events to the international student community in Melbourne’s CBD. Study Melbourne exists to support you, the international student. If you haven’t been to the Hub yet, come check out some of their many services. If nothing else, come for the free Wi-Fi and coffee :)
Register for our next session now! But remember lunch and workshop are separate tickets. Come with your friends, or make some new ones!
